Calmstep Privacy Policy

Updated 20 October 2026

In short

Calmstep doesn't collect any data. There's no account, no analytics, no ads and no tracking. Everything you put in it stays on your iPhone.

What stays on your iPhone

Your tasks, thoughts, routines, focus sessions, streaks and settings are stored in Calmstep's own storage on this device, shared only with Calmstep's widgets. Calmstep doesn't sync or send them anywhere. Your iPhone's own backups may include them, as with any app. Deleting Calmstep deletes them.

Apple Intelligence

Where it's available, Calmstep uses Apple's on-device model to break tasks into steps and read your notes. It runs entirely on your iPhone. What you type isn't sent to us or to anyone else.

Permissions, all optional

  • Notifications: reminders are scheduled on your iPhone.
  • Calendar: Calmstep reads today's events to show them on your day. It never changes, copies or shares them.
  • Location: used only for routines you tie to a place. iOS watches for the place; Calmstep stores just the place you picked.
  • Screen Time: to block apps during a session. Apple gives Calmstep anonymous tokens, so it can't see which apps you chose.

Place search

When you search for a place for a routine, what you type goes to Apple Maps to find it, under Apple's privacy policy.

Purchases

Subscriptions are handled by Apple. Calmstep learns only whether Plus is active, never your payment details.

Children

Calmstep collects nothing from anyone, including children.

Changes

If this ever changes, for example to add syncing, this policy will be updated in the app first, and Calmstep will ask before anything leaves your iPhone.
